1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Sweetman (in the Chair), Deputies de Valera and Seán Dunne; Senators Fitzpatrick, Eoin Ryan and Sheldon.


3. Appearances for the Promoters.


Mr. Frank FitzGibbon, Q.C., Mr. A.D. Pringle, S.C., and Messrs. Milward Jones, Mayne and Knapp, Parliamentary Agents, appeared for the Promoters the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.


4. Hearing in support of Preamble.


Mr. Frank FitzGibbon, Q.C., and Mr. A. D. Pringle, S.C., were heard in support of the Preamble of the Bill and called evidence.


5. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. Terence J. Millin, F.R.C.S.I., President of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland; and Dr. Harry O’Flanagan, Registrar of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, sworn and examined.
