IMEACHTA AN CHOISTE.THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.Dé Máirt, 12 Márta, 1963.Tuesday, 12th March, 1963.1. The Committee met at 7.30 p.m. 2. Members Present. The following members were present:— Deputy Colley (in the Chair), the Minister for Industry and Commerce, Deputies Booth, Byrne, Cosgrave, D. Costello, de Valera, K. P. Egan, Gallagher, Norton and Pattison. 3. Consideration of Bill. The Committee resumed consideration of the Bill. (i) Section 147. Amendment proposed (Minister for Industry and Commerce): “In subsection (4), page 87, line 20, before ‘times’ to insert ‘reasonable’.” Amendment agreed to. Amendment proposed (Minister for Industry and Commerce): “In subsection (5), page 87, line 35, after ‘£100’ to insert ‘or to both’.” Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (ii) Section 148. Amendment proposed (Minister for Industry and Commerce): “In subsection (3), page 88, line 10, after ‘£100’ to insert ‘or to both’.” Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (iii) Section 149. Amendment proposed (Minister for Industry and Commerce): “In subsection (5), page 88, line 50, after ‘£100’ to insert ‘or to both’.” Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (iv) Sections 150 to 158 inclusive, agreed to. (v) Section 159. Amendment proposed (Deputy Cosgrave): “In subsection (3), line 11, to delete ‘21’ and substitute ‘7’.” Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Section agreed to. (vi) Sections 160 and 161 agreed to. (vii) Section 162. Amendment proposed (Deputy Cosgrave): “To delete subsection (1) (b) and substitute the following: ‘(b) he is qualified to be so appointed either as having obtained similar qualifications otherwise than from such a Body or as having obtained adequate knowledge and experience prior to the operative date in the course of his employment by a member of a Body of Accountants recognised for the purposes of paragraph (a), or as having before the operative date practised in the State as an Accountant’.” Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Amendment proposed (Deputy Cosgrave): “In subsection (3), page 97, to delete paragraph (b).” Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Amendment proposed (Deputy D. Costello): “In subsection (3) to add after ‘auditor’ in line 49 the following: ‘Paragraph (b) of this subsection shall not apply to a company which is a private company except where such company is a subsidiary of a public company.”’ Amendment, by leave, withdrawn. Section agreed to. (viii) Section 163. Amendment proposed (Minister for Industry and Commerce): “In subsection (3), page 98, line 16, before ‘times’ to insert ‘reasonable’.” Amendment agreed to. Section, as amended, agreed to. (ix) Section 164 agreed to. Further consideration of the Bill adjourned. 4.
