ELECTION OF CHAIRMAN.

1. Deputy Carter.—I have great pleasure in proposing that Deputy Denis Jones, who was Chairman of the last few Committees, should be the Chairman of this Committee. We have all worked well together and Deputy Jones has conducted the meetings in a very genial fashion.

Deputy P. J. Burke.—It gives me great pleasure to second that proposal and to say how much we appreciate Deputy Jones as Chairman. He is a fine genial man and it is a pleasure to work with him.

Question: “That Deputy Jones be Chairman of the Committee”—put and agreed to.

DEPUTY JONES took the chair.

Chairman.—I am grateful to the members for this display of confidence and I can assure them that, on this occasion, as on previous occasions, I will do my best to conduct the affairs of the Committee expeditiously. I think I can say that I can count on the assistance of the Comptroller and Auditor General and the members of the Committee to get through our job to the satisfaction of the Dáil which has sent us here to do this work.

The Committee adjourned.
