EXPENSES OF REPATRIATION.

During my examination before the Committee of Public Accounts on the 28 March, 1963, I undertook to furnish particulars of expenditure incurred on the repatriation of Irish persons from abroad in the financial year 1961-62.

The total of advances to such persons during the year 1961-62 was £926 6s. 0d. Of this amount £10 5s. 0d. had been written off as irrecoverable and £642 6s. 5d. recovered at the close of that financial year, leaving a balance outstanding of £273 14s. 7d. I might add that, of this balance, £138 5s. 8d. had been recovered by 31st March, 1963.
