LOCAL APPOINTMENTS COMMISSION: ASSESSMENT OF CHARGE TO LOCAL AUTHORITIES FOR SERVICES.

At the proceedings of the Public Accounts Committee on 18 November, 1959, I undertook to supply more detailed information as to the basis of the assessment of the charge on local authorities for the services of the Local Appointments Commission.

In accordance with Section 12 of the Local Authorities (Officers and Employees) Act, 1926, the net cost of the services rendered by the Local Appointments Commission to the local authorities as a whole is calculated and assessed yearly on the several County and County Borough councils in proportion to the rateable valuations of their areas.
