REGISTERS AND RENTALS OF STATE LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

Referring to the letter addressed to you on 10 Meitheamh, 1959, relative to the compilation of complete registers and rentals of all State lands and buildings administered by the Office of Public Works, I enclose a statement of the progress made in the work during the year ended 31st March, 1960.

OFFICE OF PUBLIC WORKS: COMPILATION OF PROPERTY RENTAL 1959/60.

Mapping.—During the year, 107 properties were surveyed while 80 were mapped, the Counties concerned being Dublin (City and County), Kilkenny, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Tipperary and Westmeath. From the initiation of the property rental 1,259 properties have been surveyed while 1,212 have been mapped.

Legal.—The preliminary legal work was done in respect of 126 properties and the final legal work in respect of 66 properties in Counties Cork, Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Tipperary, Westmeath and Wexford.

Secretariat.—Of the properties surveyed 66 were finally dealt with for the purposes of the rental. In addition the records of Title, etc., were compiled in respect of 16 minor properties (short-term tenancies, National Schools, etc.). The properties concerned were situated in Counties Donegal, Dublin, Galway, Kilkenny, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Meath, Monaghan, Westmeath and Tipperary.

Perambulation.—The systematic perambulation of all properties, whether surveyed or not, in as full a manner as circumstances permitted, was continued throughout the year.
