Committee Reports::Interim and Final Report - Appropriation Accounts 1959 - 1960::02 November, 1960::Appendix

APPENDIX VI.

STATIONERY OFFICE: SALES OF PUBLICATIONS.

Cléireach an Choiste,

Coiste um Chuntais Phoiblí,

Dáil Éireann.

In the course of my examination before the Committee of Public Accounts on 10th November, 1960, I undertook to furnish an explanation as to why the sums

(i) £27,047 and

(ii) £2,899,

which the Appropriation Account in respect of the Stationery Office Vote for 1959-60 show to have been realized in that year on the sales of

(i) Publications, including Oireachtas Debates and Oireachtas Papers and

(ii) Ordnance Survey maps

differ from the sums

(a) £26,137 5s. 7d. and

(b) £2,758 6s. 0d.

which appear under the headings “General Publications” and “Ordnance Survey Maps”, respectively, in the Trading and Profit and Loss Account in respect of the Government Publications Sale Office for the same year.

The Appropriation Account figures represent the receipts within the year 1959—60. Some of these receipts were in payment for goods supplied on credit before the commencement of the year; some were in payment for goods not supplied before the close of the year.

The figures in the Trading and Profit and Loss Account represent the value of the sales transacted within the year 1959—60 irrespective of whether payment was received within that year.
