1. The Committee met at 5 p.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies Booth, S. Browne, Carty, Cunningham, Haughey, Jones and Sheldon.


3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1956-57.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1956-57 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Industry and Commerce, Transport and Marine Services, Aviation and Meteorological Services, Industrial and Commercial Property Registration Office, Tourism, Defence and Army Pensions.


4. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. J. C. B. MacCarthy (Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce), Lieutenant-General P. MacMahon (Secretary, Department of Defence), Miss M. Bhreathnach, Mr. C. J. Byrnes, Mr. J. F. MacInerney, Mr. J. Mooney and Mr. L. V. O’Neill (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

The Committee adjourned at 6.35 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday, 17th April, 1958.
