THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies J. Brennan, S. Browne, Cunningham, Desmond, Haughey, Jones, T. Lynch and Sheldon.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1956-57.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1956-57 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Charitable Donations and Bequests, Office of Public Works, Public Works and Buildings, Employment and Emergency Schemes, Agriculture and Fisheries.

4. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. J. S. Martin (Secretary, Commissioners of Charitable Donations and Bequests), Mr. Geo. P. Fagan (Chairman, Commissioners of Public Works), Mr. R. Ó hEigeartuigh (Director, Employment and Emergency Schemes), Mr. J, Dempsey (Secretary, Department of Agriculture), Mr. C. J. Byrnes and Mr. P. S. Mac Guill (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

5. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 12.45 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
