DEFENCE PAYMENTS CHARGED TO SUBHEAD U.

At the proceedings of the Committee of Public Accounts on the 11th July, 1957, I undertook to furnish particulars of the payments charged to Subhead “U” (Compensation) of the Vote for Defence in the financial year 1955/56.


Two Schedules are attached giving particulars of cases where the amount paid was £50 or over. Schedule A relates to traffic accidents and Schedule B to other compensation claims.


The items scheduled total £9,724 and the balance, £1,277 is made up of 52 traffic accident claims and 44 other claims under £50 each.
