APPENDIX XIV.

REGISTERS AND RENTALS OF STATE LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

Cléireach,

An Coiste um Chuntais Phoiblí.

With reference to my letter dated 31 Deire Fómhair, 1956, relative to the compilation of complete registers and rentals of all State lands and buildings administered by the Commissioners of Public Works, I enclose a statement of the progress made in the work during the year ended 31st March, 1957.

(Signed) DIARMUID Ó hEIGCEARTUIGH,

Chairman,

Commissioners of Public Works.

26 Iúil, 1957.

Mapping.—During the year 11 properties were surveyed while 28 properties were mapped, the counties concerned being Cork, Donegal, Wexford and Dublin City. Ten of the properties surveyed and 16 of the properties mapped are in the Dublin City area. The output is satisfactory having regard to the size of some of the City properties dealt with and the complexity of the work involved. The survey staff was one below its normal strength of four officers.

From the initiation of the Property Rental a total of 1,004 properties have been surveyed while 998 have been mapped.

Legal.—Due to staffing difficulties in the Office of the Finance Solicitor, preliminary legal work was done only in respect of one property. Final legal work was completed in respect of 50 properties in counties Cork, Donegal, Leix, Longford, Sligo, Wexford and Dublin City.

Secretariat.—During the year 46 properties were finally disposed of, the counties concerned being Cork, Donegal, Leix, Longford, Sligo and Wexford.

Perambulation.—The systematic perambulation of all properties, whether surveyed or not, in as full a manner as circumstances permitted, was continued throughout the year.
