1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy Dillon (in the Chair), Deputies Booth, J. Brennan, Cunningham, Donegan, Haughey, Jones, Larkin and Sheldon.


3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1955-56.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1955-56 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:— Posts and Telegraphs, Wireless Broadcasting, Office of the Minister for Education, Primary Education, Secondary Education, Technical Instruction, Science and Art, Reformatory and Industrial Schools, Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies, Office of Public Works and Public Works and Buildings.


4. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. L. Ó Broin (Secretary, Department of Posts and Telegraphs), Mr. T. Ó Raifeartaigh (Secretary, Department of Education), Mr. G. P. Fagan (Commissioner, Office of Public Works), Mr. P. S. MacGuill, Mr. J. F. McInerney, Mr. J. Mooney, Mr. S. Ó Conaill and Mr. L. V. O’Neill (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.

The Committee adjourned at 1.5 p.m. until 11 a.m. on Thursday next.
