SUBLETTING OF POST OFFICE PREMISES.

At the meeting of the Public Accounts Committee on 20th July, 1956 the Chairman of the Committee referred to the sum of £1,100 realized in excess of the estimate for the rent of Post Office premises sublet (Subhead T.6— Appropriations in Aid).

The facts are as surmised by the Chairman. The lessees of Post Office property deduct the appropriate amounts of income tax from their payments of rent and remit them to the Revenue Commissioners who refund them to the Department of Posts and Telegraphs.
