THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

1. The Committee met at 10.30 a.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:

Deputy Carter (in the chair), Deputies A. Barry, Bartley, Mrs. Crowley, Moher, O’Hara and Sheldon.

3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts, 1953-54.

Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1953-54 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Office of the Minister for Social Welfare, Social Insurance, Social Assistance, Office of Public Works and Public Works and Buildings.

4. Witnesses Examined.

Mr. P. J. Keady (Secretary, Department of Social Welfare), Mr. D. Ó hÉigceartaigh (Chairman, Commissioners of Public Works), Mr. M. Breathnach, Mr. C. J. Byrnes, Mr. T. J. Malone and Mr. J. Mooney (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor-General were examined.

5. Adjournment.

The Committee adjourned at 1.30 p.m. until 10.30 a.m. to-morrow.
