Control of Exports Order, 1954 (S.I. No. 193 of 1954).

Memorandum from Department of Industry and Commerce.

The Control of Exports Order, 1954, was made by the Minister for Industry and Commerce on the 30th August, 1954. It was expressed to come into force on the 13th September, 1954. The Order was presented to both Houses of the Oireachtas on the 14th September, 1954, and it is regretted that it was not presented before publication.

The reason for allowing a period between the making of the Order and its coming into force was that the Revenue Commissioners had to be afforded a period during which the necessary instructions in regard to the alterations in export control to be brought about by the Order could be prepared and notified to the Customs Officers concerned.
