REGISTERS AND RENTALS OF STATE LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

With reference to my letter dated 20 Deireadh Fómhair, 1951, relative to the compilation of complete registers and rentals of all State Lands and Buildings administered by the Commissioners of Public Works, I enclose a statement of the progress made in the work during the year ended 31st March, 1952.

COMPILATION OF PROPERTY RENTAL: YEAR 1951-52.

Mapping:

During the year 76 properties were surveyed while 85 properties were mapped, the Counties concerned being Carlow, Galway, Wicklow and Dublin (City).


From the initiation of the Property Rental up to the 31st March, 1952, a total of 638 properties have been surveyed, of which 622 have been mapped.


The surveying and mapping of Dublin City properties was continued during the year. The Custom House, the Department of Education Offices and the Central Model Schools have been completed, as also have the Department of Social Welfare Offices at Nos. 13/14 Earlsfort Terrace, and leased premises at 75 Sir John Rogerson’s Quay. The Department of Social Welfare Offices at Lord Edward Street have been surveyed and mapping is now in progress.


Legal:

The Preliminary Legal work was done in respect of 80 properties. That for Counties Donegal and Sligo is now completed, while a start has been made on County Longford. The work on Dublin City properties was continued throughout the year.


The Final Legal work was completed in 129 cases in Counties Carlow, Cavan, Galway, Kildare and Wicklow.


Secretariat:

During the year 89 properties were finally disposed of, while the Secretarial work on 40 other properties was partially done. The counties concerned were Carlow, Cavan, Galway, Kildare and Wicklow.


PERAMBULATION:


The systematic perambulation of all properties, whether surveyed or not, in as full a manner as circumstances permitted, was continued through the year.
