APPENDIX XVII.RENT OF HANGAR AT DUBLIN AIRPORT.The tenancy of a hangar at Dublin Airport, which was rented to Aer Lingus at £1,850 per annum, was terminated by Aer Lingus on the 1st March, 1951. The hangar was subsequently converted for use as a cargo depot at a cost estimated at £2,500. Since the 2nd January, 1952, the building has been occupied by Aer Lingus, Aer Rianta and Customs staff. Pending the fixing of an economic rent for the converted building, Aer Lingus have been charged a provisional rent of £1,875 for the part of the building which they occupy. They disputed their liability for rent in respect of the area used as a Customs transit shed, but it was finally decided that they were liable for this rent. The economic rent of the building cannot be determined until particulars of the final cost of the adaptation work, which was carried out by Aer Rianta as contractors for the Minister, have been furnished by Aer Rianta. This information is expected to be available shortly, and the economic rent payable by Aer Lingus can then be fixed with effect as from 2nd January, 1952. |
