At the proceedings of the Committee on the 10th July, 1952, I undertook to furnish further particulars on the following matters:— REMISSION OF PENALTIES FOR MILLING WHEAT IN EXCESS OF QUOTAS.The following statement shows for each year from 1933/34 (a) payments received in respect of penalties incurred and (b) amounts waived which were payable in respect of penalties incurred:
During the Emergency a scheme for the rationalisation of flour distribution was put in operation. Under the scheme certain millers were permitted to exceed their wheat quotas. The penalties thereby incurred under the Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Acts, 1933 and 1934 were waived with the approval of the Minister for Finance. |
