Committee Reports::Report - Appropriation Accounts 1950 - 1951::26 February, 1953::Appendix

APPENDIX VI.

USE OF VIREMENT ON VOTE FOR POSTS AND TELEGRAPHS.

Secretary,

Committee of Public Accounts.

Adverting to the proceedings of the Committee of Public Accounts on 27th June last, I am to forward, as requested, a note relative to the Supplementary Estimate, 1950/51, for Posts and Telegraphs (Vote 54).

(Signed) J. E. TWAMLEY,

Department of Finance.

25 Meán Fómhair, 1952.

The information available when the Supplementary Estimate was being framed indicated excess expenditure on the A group of Subheads of about £8,500. As this excess was comparatively trifling (.25 per cent. on a total of almost £3½ millions), and as sufficient savings to cover it were expected on other subheads of the Vote, its inclusion as a separate item in the Supplementary Estimate was considered unnecessary, having regard to the arrangements accepted by the Committee of Public Accounts (paragraph 6 of the Committee’s final report on the Appropriation Accounts, 1937/38).
