1. The Committee met at 10.30 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Senator O’Reilly (in the Chair), Deputies Little, Mac Fheorais and Sheldon, Senators Colgan and Douglas.


3. Appearances for the Promoters.


Mr. G. H. Murnaghan, S.C. and Mr. Malcolm H. G. Ellis, B.L. and Messrs. A. & L. Goodbody, Parliamentary Agents, appeared for the promoters, the Governors and Guardians of the Royal Hospital for Incurables, Dublin.


4. Report from Attorney General’s Office.


A report on the Bill from the Attorney General’s Office was read.


5. Hearings in Support of Preamble.


Mr. G. H. Murnaghan, S.C., and Mr. Malcolm H. G. Ellis, B.L., were heard in support of the Preamble of the Bill and called evidence.


6. Witnesses Examined.


Mr. Walter Jones, Registrar, Royal Hospital for Incurables, Dublin, Mr. Edwin Edwards, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Hospital, and Mr. David Mitchell, Honorary Treasurer of the Hospital sworn and examined.
