REGISTERS AND RENTALS OF STATE LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

With reference to the second paragraph of my letter dated 15 Samhain, 1950, relative to the compilation of complete registers and rentals of all State lands and Buildings administered by the Commissioners of Public Works, I enclose a statement of the progress that has been made in the work during the year ended 31st March, 1951.

Compilation of Property Rental: Year 1950/51.

Mapping;

During the year 69 properties were surveyed while 74 properties were mapped, the Counties concerned being Galway, Kildare, Wicklow and Dublin (City).

From the initiation of the Property Rental up to 31st March, 1951, a total of 562 properties have been surveyed, of which 537 have been mapped.

Legal;

The Preliminary Legal work was done in respect of 86 properties. That for Co. Donegal is now virtually completed, while a start has been made on Dublin City.

The Final Legal work was completed in 90 cases in Counties Cavan, Galway and Kildare.

Secretariat;

Staffing difficulties continued to retard progress, but it was found possible to dispose finally, for the purposes of the Rental, of 30 properties in Counties Cavan and Galway.

The systematic perambulation of all properties, whether surveyed or not, in as full a manner as circumstances permitted was continued throughout the year.
