APPENDIX XVI.

Vote for Aviation and Meteorological Services.

PAYMENTS RECEIVED BY AERLINTE EIREANN ON DISPOSAL OF PREMISES, ETC., IN NEW YORK.

Secretary,

Committee of Public Accounts.

At the proceedings of the Committee on 7th December, 1951, I undertook to furnish particulars regarding the payments received by Aerlinte Eireann on the disposal of premises, furniture, etc., in New York.

The payment of £20,282 7s. 0d. made by the Commissioners of Public Works to Aerlinte Eireann was equal to the sum already expended by the Company on the renovation of the premises. Furniture, fittings, utensils, office equipment and supplies were transferred to the Department of External Affairs at an agreed valuation of £4,682 7s. 6d. paid to the Company by the Commissioners of Public Works. Furniture and equipment sold by the Company to other airlines realised £230. These sums were taken into the Company’s accounts in the normal way and therefore affected the final financial results and the amount paid over to the Minister for Finance.

(Signed) JOHN LEYDON,

Secretary,

Department of Industry and Commerce.
