Committee Reports::Report - Appropriation Accounts 1949 - 1950::20 March, 1952::Appendix

APPENDIX IV.

INCREASES UNDER PENSIONS (INCREASE) ACT, 1950.

Rúnaí,

Coiste um Chuntais Phoiblí.

At the meeting of the Committee of Public Accounts on the 17th October I undertook to inform the Committee of the exact amounts included in the charge to subheads A, J and K of the Appropriation Account for Superannuation and Retired Allowances, 1949-50, in respect of increases granted under the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1950. I have since had the desired figures compiled and they are as follows:

If there had been no Pensions (Increase) Act the surplus falling to be surrendered on this Vote would accordingly have been £97,746 6s. 8d. While this is a large sum, it represents rather less than 11 per cent. of the net total provision in the Vote, the requirements of which are liable to substantial fluctuation due to deaths and cannot be accurately foreseen.
