THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Déardaoin, 16ú Feabhra, 1950.

Thursday, 16th February, 1950.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Present: Deputy MacEntee (in the Chair), Deputies Coburn, J. J. Collins, Mrs. Crowley, Kitt and Sheldon.


3. The Chairman brought forward a Draft Report, which was read the first time.


4. Motion made (Deputy Sheldon):


“That the Chairman’s Draft Report be read a second time. paragraph by paragraph.”


Question put, and agreed to.


(i) Paragraphs 1 to 9 inclusive, agreed to.


(ii) New paragraph.


Amendment proposed (Deputy Sheldon):


“To insert before paragraph 10 the following new paragraph:


‘In connection with the payment of special allowances to certain teachers, the Committee considers that the circumstances were sufficiently unusual to have warranted attention being drawn to the expenditure by a note in the Appropriation Account.’”


Question—“That the new paragraph be there inserted”—put, and agreed to.


(iii) Paragraphs 10 to 20 inclusive, agreed to.


5. Motion made (Deputy Sheldon):


“That the Chairman’s Draft Report, as amended, be the Report of the Committee.”


Question put, and agreed to.


Ordered: That the Report be presented to the Dáil.


6. The Committee concluded its business at 12.10 p.m.
