THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Present: Deputy MacEntee (in the Chair), Deputies B. Brady, Briscoe, J. J. Collins, Gilbride, Kitt and Sheldon.


3. Consideration of the Appropriation Accounts for the year 1946-47 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of: Army Pensions, Local Government and Public Health, Office of the Minister for Health, General Register Office, Office of the Minister for Social Welfare, Old Age Pensions, Widows’ and Orphans’ Pensions, National Health Insurance, Children’s Allowances, Unemployment Insurance and Unemployment Assistance, Food Allowances, Office of the Revenue Commissioners, Employment and Emergency Schemes and Public Record Office.


4. Lieutenant-General P. MacMahon (Secretary, Department of Defence), Mr. J. Collins (Secretary, Department of Local Government) Mr. P. Kennedy (Secretary, Department of Health), Mr. D. J. O’Donovan (Secretary, Department of Social Welfare), Mr. R. P. Rice (Chairman, Revenue Commissioners), Mr. E. J. MacLaughlin (Director, Special Employment Schemes Office), Mr. D. Coffey (Public Record Office), Mr. C. S. Almond, Mr. P. O’Kelly and Miss Máire Bhreathnach (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor-General were examined.


5. The Committee adjourned at 1 p.m. till Thursday, 1st July, 1948.
