THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE COMMITTEE.

Thursday, 25th January, 1945.

1. The Committee met at 11 a.m;


2. Present: Deputies Breslin, Briscoe, Cogan, Cosgrave, Loughman, Lydon, McEoin and M. O’Sullivan.


3. Motion made (Deputy Briscoe):—


“That Deputy Cosgrave act as Chairman of this meeting of the Committee.”


Question put and agreed to.


Deputy Cosgrave accordingly took the Chair.


4. Consideration of the Appropriation Accounts for the year 1942-43 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—Industry and Commerce, Transport and Meteorological Services, Railway Tribunal, Marine Service, Unemployment Insurance and Unemployment Assistance, Industrial and Commercial Property Registration Office, Repayment of Trade Loan Advances, Food Allowances, Lands, Forestry and Gaeltacht Services.


5. Mr. R. C. Ferguson (Acting-Secretary, Department of Industry and Commerce), Mr. M. Deegan (Secretary, Department of Lands), Mr. C. S. Almond, Mr. G. P. S. Hogan and Mr. L. M. Fitzgerald (Department of Finance) and the Comptroller and Auditor General were examined.


6. The Committee adjourned at 1.10 p.m. till Thursday, 1st February, 1945.
