APPENDIX IV.

INCLUSION OF APPROPRIATIONS IN AID SUBHEAD IN THE VOTE FOR THE EMERGENCY SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH BUREAU.

In the course of my examination before the Committee of Public Accounts on the 19th October, 1944, I undertook to furnish to the Committee a note on the question of including an Appropriations in Aid Subhead in the Vote for the Emergency Scientific Research Bureau to indicate that the Bureau undertakes special research on behalf of private persons on payment of a fee. It has now been decided to terminate the activities of the Bureau at a date not later than the 31st March, 1945, and the necessary arrangements are being made to that end. In accordance with this decision no provision will be made for the Bureau in future Estimates.
