APPENDIX V.

CONTRIBUTIONS TO DISCHARGED PRISONERS AID SOCIETIES.

The Borstal Institution was transferred from Clonmel to Cork in October, 1940. The Association at Clonmel continued to function until June, 1941, when a new Association was established in Cork.

The old Association was given a grant of £4 in April, 1941, in recoupment of expenses actually incurred. The new Association was given a grant of £25. Thus a total of £29 was paid to the two Associations whereas the total in the estimate for that purpose was only £10. This caused an excess of £19 on the subhead.
