IMEACHTA AN CHÓ-CHOISTE.

PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE.

Déardaoin, 11 Abrán, 1935.

Thursday, 11 April, 1935.

1. The Joint Committee met at 11 a.m.


2. Present: Deputies Kennedy, T. J. Murphy and Miss M. M. Pearse; Senators Sir E. Coey Bigger, Miss K. Browne, Fanning and Fitzgerald. The Ceann Comhairle and the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad were also present ex officio.


3. Chairmanship. The Cathaoirleach of the Seanad moved:—


“That Senator Fitzgerald be Chairman of the Joint Committee.”


Agreed.


4. Quorum. Senator Fanning moved:—


“That the quorum of the Joint Committee be five.”


Agreed.


5. Procedure. The Joint Committee deliberated on the procedure to be followed. On the motion of the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad it was agreed that complete information as to facts be issued to members of the Joint Committee, and that these be considered at a subsequent meeting.


6. Information to be issued.


The following categories of information were proposed by various members of the Joint Committee and agreed upon:—


(i) A Statement, to be prepared by the Committee Clerk, giving a history of the management and progress of the Oireachtas Restaurant since its inception; no expression of opinion as to the merits of any system of control to be included.


(ii) Reports of all Committees dealing with the Restaurant in the past.


(iii) Figures showing the monthly financial results, the number of meals served, and the number of meetings of the two Houses.


(iv) Copies of the Minutes of the various meetings of former Committees dealing with the Restaurant (1923-1930).


(v) Copies of audited yearly accounts for each year since 1923.


(vi) Copy of the original contract made with Messrs. J. E. Mills, Ltd.


(vii) Balance Sheet of the Restaurant Account at the end of the first year of the contract with Messrs. J. E. Mills, Ltd.


(vii) A financial statement of the position up to the latest available date in 1935.


7. On the motion of the Cathaoirleach of the Seanad it was agreed that proposals for final decisions on matters of policy would be considered only after notice being given.


8. Next Meeting. The Joint Committee agreed to hold its meetings ordinarily on Wednesdays. The next meeting to be held on Wednesday, 1st May, at 11 a.m.
