3. Do breithníodh Dréacht-Thuarasgabháil an Chathaoirligh.

“That sections 15 to 21, inclusive, be deleted.”


Chuaidh an Coiste i gcomhairle. Do cinneadh breithniú alt 15 go 21 go huile do chur ar ath-ló agus an chuid eile den tuarasgabháil do bhreithniú ina halt agus ina halt.

“(8) On the 16th February the Clerk informed the Superintendent of the Oireachtas of the Cathaoirleach’s order. The Superintendent informed the Clerk of the Dáil, who directed him to await instructions from him before doing anything definite. The Superintendent stated in his evidence that the Clerk of the Dáil added that, where the Superintendent was concerned, the orders of the Clerk of the Dáil would override all others, whether from the Cathaoirleach or the Clerk of the Seanad (Qq. 280-284, 346, 347); but this part of the Superintendent’s evidence is questioned by the Clerk of the Dáil (see paragraphs 23 and 24 below).”

“That is to say, he admits that he instructed the Superintendent not to admit visitors wearing blue uniform shirts even though they had cards of admission to the Seanad and that, knowing that the Superintendent could not see his way to disobey the Cathaoirleach’s order, he instructed him to inform the Minister for Defence, who had no authority in the matter, of all the facts.”
