PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE.

Friday, 6th December, 1929.

1. The Joint Committee met at 3 p.m.


2. Present: Deputies Beckett, Little, Morrissey, O’Higgins, Rice and J. T. Wolfe; Senators S. L. Brown, Comyn, Farren and Hooper.


3. Election of Chairman.


Motion made (Senator Brown):


“That Deputy Morrissey be Chairman of the Joint Committee.”


Question put, and agreed to.


Deputy Morrissey took the Chair.


4. Quorum.


Ordered: That the quorum be seven, including at least two members of each House [Senator Comyn].


5. Sittings of the Joint Committee.


Motion made (Deputy Rice):


“That, unless otherwise ordered, the Joint Committee do sit in private.”


Amendment proposed (Deputy Little):


“To delete the word ‘private’ and substitute therefor the word ‘public.”’


Question:—“That the word proposed to be deleted stand part of the motion”—put, and agreed to.


Main question put, and agreed to.


Ordered: That unless otherwise ordered, the Joint Committee do sit in private.


6. The Joint Committee deliberated.


7. The Joint Committee adjourned at 4.15 p.m. until 11 a.m. on 19th December.
