PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE.

1. Chruinnigh an Có-Choiste ar 11 a.m.

2. I láthair: Pádraig Hooper (i gCeannas); Tomás O hAonghusa, Seán Lemass, Diarmuid O Mathghamhna agus Pádraig Mac Gabhann, Teachtaí; Eibhlín Bean Mhic Coisdealbha, Tomás Mac Eoin, Mac Giolla Coda na gCruach, Muiris O Mórdha agus Mícheál O hAnnluain, Seanadóirí.

Tairisgint déanta (Seán Lemass):

“That the salary of the President of the Executive Council should be fixed at £1,500 per annum and the salaries of Ministers at £1,000 per annum, and that their salaries should not be subject to income tax.”

Leasú tairgthe (Tomás Mac Eoin):

“That the salary of Ministers should be reduced provided that an additional allowance is made to ex-Ministers so long as they remain members of the Oireachtas.”

“That the remuneration of Ministers remain as at present fixed.”

Leasú tairgthe (Tomás O hAonghusa):

“To delete all the words after the word ‘That’ and substitute the words:—

“‘ the salaries of Ministers remain as they are at present, but without deducting income tax, and that an additional allowance be made to ex-Ministers so long as they remain members of the Oireachtas, or while in private life are not in receipt of incomes derived from outside sources.”’
