1. The Committee met at 4 p.m.


2. Senators present.


The following Senators attended the sitting:—


James G. Douglas, Thomas Farren, H. S. Guinness, Rt. Hon. Andrew Jameson, Sir John Keane and Mrs. Wyse Power.


The President was also in attendance.


3. Senator Douglas was moved to the Chair.


4. Adaptation of Charters Bill, 1925.


(i) Section 1.


Amendment proposed (Senator Jameson):


Sub-section (1). To delete the words “by virtue of Article 73 of the Constitution has the force of law” in lines 26-27 and to substitute therefor the words “is in force.”


Amendment withdrawn.


Section 1 agreed to.


(ii) Sections 2 and 3 agreed to.


(iii) New Section.


Amendment proposed (Senator Jameson):


New Section. After section 3 to insert a new section as follows:—


“4.—Sections 2 and 3 of this Act shall not apply to any board or body which exercises any function of government or discharges any public duties in relation to public administration as merely ancillary to the main objects for which such board or body was constituted either by Statute or by Charter or partly by Statute and partly by Charter.”


Amendment withdrawn.


(iv) Section 4 agreed to.


(v) Title agreed to.
