PRESENTATION OF DRAFT REPORT ON THE IMPACT OF EU EQUALITY LEGISLATION ON WOMEN’S AFFAIRS IN IRELAND TO MR. PADRAIG FLYNN, EU COMMISSIONER FOR EMPLOYMENT AND SOCIAL AFFAIRS

A delegation representing the Joint Committee on Women’s Rights presented a copy of draft report on the impact of EU Equality Legislation on Women’s affairs in Ireland to Mr. Padraig Flynn EU Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs in Brussels on 22 April 1996. This occasion was sponsored and organised by the European Commission and Parliament.

The draft report contained commentary on implementation of the Third Medium Term Community Action Programme and recommendations for implementation of the Fourth Medium Term Community Action Programme on Equal Opportunities for Men and Women 1996 - 2000.

It was confirmed to the Commissioner that the Joint Committee intended to publish its findings and recommendations in this regard.
