Appendix 2OBSERVATIONS OF THE COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS ON THE MINUTE OF THE MINISTER FOR FINANCEOBSERVATIONS OF THE COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS ON THE MINUTE OF THE MINISTER FOR FINANCE ON THE REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE OF PUBLIC ACCOUNTS DATED 25 JULY 1991 ON THE APPROPRIATION ACCOUNTS 1987The Committee notes that action has been taken in the areas to which attention has been drawn and wishes to make the following brief observations:- NATIONAL LOTTERY GRANTSThe Committee remains concerned at the perception that National Lottery funding is less rigorously accounted for and more readily disbursed than other Public Funds. The Committee will consider this matter in more detail in consultation with the Comptroller and Auditor General. MATURED LIABILITIESThe Committee requests that a copy of the proposals on matured liabilities submitted by the Joint Department of Finance\Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General working group be forwarded to the Committee. BOVINE TB AND BRUCELLOSIS ERADICATIONThe Committee has addressed this subject in a special examination and the report of its deliberations will be published shortly. BEEF IRREGULARITIESThe Committee reserves comment on this matter until such time as the Report of the Inquiry into the Beef Industry is published. EXPENDITURE IN RELATION TO THE WRECK OF THE MV “KOWLOON BRIDGE”The Committee notes that legislation has been enacted in a number of areas following the damage caused by the MV Kowloon Bridge. It requests that the outcome of the court case should be notified to the Committee. FEES TO COUNSELThe Committee proposes to deal with this subject in a special report to Dáil Éireann. |
