IC = Intermediate Certificate


When the numbers of boys and girls achieving A’s and B’s in Higher Level papers are cross-tabulated by gender, the differences are statistically highly significant in the case of Chemistry, Physics and particularly Higher Mathematics where the Chi Squares are remarkably high. In all cases the variance is due to the higher proportions of boys achieving A’s. There are no such differences in the case of the other subjects referred to in the Table.
