1 The Committee met at 4.00 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following members were present:—

Senator Tom Fitzgerald (in the Chair), Deputy Michael D. Higgins, Senators Des Hanafin (present on behalf of Senator O’Connor) and Peter Kelleher.

3. Draft of first report regarding the advertising campaign in connection with the Irish language.

The Chairman brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:—

(i) Paragraphs 1.1.1 to 4.2.6, inclusive, agreed to.

(ii) The amendment of Paragraph 4.2.7 agreed to.

(iii) Paragraphs 4.2.8 to 4.3.6 (a), inclusive, agreed to.

(iv) The amendment of Paragraph 4.3.6 (b) agreed to.

(v) Paragraphs 4.3.6 (c) to 4.4.8, inclusive, agreed to.

(vi) The amendment of Paragraph 4.4.9 agreed to.

(vii) Paragraphs 4.5.1 to 4.5.2, inclusive, agreed to.

(viii) The amendment of Paragraph 4.5.3 agreed to.

(ix) Paragraphs 4.5.4 (a) and 4.5.4 (b), inclusive, agreed to.

(x) The amendment of Paragraph 4.5.4 (c) agreed to.

(xi) Paragraphs 4.5.5 to 4.6.4, inclusive, agreed to.

(xii) The amendment of Paragraph 4.6.5 agreed to.

(xiii) Paragraphs 4.6.6 to 4.8.2, inclusive, agreed to.

(xiv) The amendment of Paragraph 4.8.3 (a) agreed to.

(xv) Paragraphs 4.8.3 (b) to 4.9.1, inclusive, agreed to.

(xvi) The addition of an extra Paragraph as 4.9.2 agreed to.
