1. The Committee met at 9.30 a.m.


2. Members Present.


The following members were present:—


Deputy D. Foley (in the Chair), Deputies M. Ahern, L. Aylward, K. Crotty, D. Lyons, B. McGahon, G. Mitchell, L. Naughten and J. O’Leary.


3. Consideration of Appropriation Accounts 1984.


Consideration of Appropriation Accounts for the year 1984 was resumed. The following Accounts were disposed of:—


Office of the Attorney General, Civil Service Commission, Office of the Ombudsman, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, Office of the Minister for the Public Service, Superannuation and Retired Allowances, Increases in Remuneration and Pensions, Foreign Affairs, International Co-operation.


Sitting Suspended.


The sitting was suspended at 11.15 a.m. and resumed at 12.20 p.m.


5. Witnesses Examined.


The following witnesses were examined:


Mr. M. Russell (Senior Legal Assistant, Office of the Attorney General), Mr. P. Cassidy (Secretary, Civil Service Commission), Mr. D. Curran (Director, Office of the Ombudsman), Mr. S. P. O’Leary (Senior Legal Assistant, Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions), Mr. S. Donlan (Secretary, Department of Foreign Affairs), Mr. P. Furlong (Department of Finance), Mr. P. L. McDonnell (Comptroller and Auditor General), Mr. K. Murphy (Secretary, Department of the Public Service).
