APPENDIX 7

EUROPEAN COMMUNITIES (SCHEDULED INTER REGIONAL AIR SERVICES) REGULATIONS, 1987

[S.I. NO. 215 OF 1987]

18 August, 1987

Secretary,

Department of Transport and Tourism.

Re:

European Communities (Scheduled Inter Regional Air Services) Regulations, 1987.

Dear Secretary,

I am directed by the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Mrs Gemma Hussey, T.D. to refer to the above Regulations and to enquire whether, in the making of Regulation 3 thereof, any consideration was given to the views expressed by the Joint Committee over the years, that Statutory Instruments made under the European Communities Act, 1972 should be comprehensible in themselves and that it should be unnecessary-to consult original Community legislation in order to comprehend the scope of the domestic regulations?

Furthermore in accordance with Article 14 of Council Directive 83/416/EEC what laws and administrative provisions have been amended to bring them into conformity with said Directive?

An early reply would assist the Joint Committee in its deliberations.

Yours sincerely,

Seamus Phelan,

Clerk to Joint Committee.
