Statement by the Minister of State at Roinn na Gaeltachta regarding the advertising campaign, in Seanad Éireann on 25 November, 1987:

“£400,000 will be provided in 1988 for an advertising campaign to promote the use of the Irish language.

Such a campaign would awaken public interest in the language and give information, example (by highlighting well known personalities using Irish) and encouragement to members of the public to use Irish within the limits of their knowledge of the language.

It is proposed that the advertising be carried on television, radio and in the newspapers.”
