REGISTRY RENTALS OF STATE LANDS AND BUILDINGS.

I refer to previous correspondence regarding the compilation of complete Registers and Rentals of State Lands and Buildings administered by the Commissioners of Public Works and I enclose a statement of the progress made during 1986.

Compilation of Property Rental

1. Survey: A total of 43 properties were surveyed in 1986. A breakdown of this figure is given hereunder.

The total number of properties surveyed to date from the initiation of the Property Rental is now 2,122. The Rental Surveyor was also engaged in preparing maps for leases, sales, etc. investigating encroachments on State Property, calculating map areas and in research work in the Land Registry and Valuation Office. In addition to the new surveys listed above a total of 26 revisions to existing survey maps were made by the Surveyors to take account of disposals of part of properties.

2. Mapping: 25 of the properties surveyed in 1986 were mapped before the end of that year. The balance will be completed early this year.

3. Legal Work: Title was still under investigation in the case of 3 groups of National Building Agency houses. Abstracts of Deeds of other properties were prepared by Officers in the Secretariat.

4. Secretariat: Records of the properties were issued to the District Architects for the purpose of their undertaking regular perambulation of the properties in conjunction with routine maintenance inspection.
