STATEMENT ISSUED BY B&I LINE

B&I RESULTS AHEAD OF GOVERNMENT TARGET

DUBLIN 4th MAY 1988. Results at B&I Line for the first quarter of 1988 are £700,000 better than anticipated in the five year plan of action presented to the Government in December 1987, Mr. Jim Kennedy, Chief Executive, confirmed today.

“What we have seen since the introduction of the plan of action is improved performance on all passenger and freight routes”, Jim Kennedy said. “There has been a very favourable response from our customers to the new ‘uncomplicated’ car and passengers fares and the concentration on Roll-On/Roll-Off Freight. In addition, staff commitment to the Plan has contributed greatly to these results”.

B&I services are operating on all routes, despite the current British National Union of Seamen strike.
