I am directed by the Chairman of the Joint Committee, Mr. Gerard Collins TD to refer to the above regulations.


In its fiftieth report adopted 30 May, 1979 a copy of which is enclosed the Joint Committee considered the principal regulations. [S.I. No. 58 of 1979] In view of the observations expressed in paragraph 10 thereof has any consideration been given to the introduction of a Bill to amend the Solicitors Act, 1954 ?

Dear Ms. Blake,


I am directed by the Minister for Justice to refer to your letter of 10 July, 1986 in relation to the above Regulations, and to say that proposals are currently on hand to provide for various amendments to the Solicitors Acts.


The question of incorporating in that legislation the amendment to the Solicitors Act 1954 which was effected by Regulations S.I. No. 58 of 1979 will be considered.
