PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE

1. The Joint Committee met at 4 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following Members were present:

Deputies Collins (in the Chair), Conaghan, Coughlan, Durkan, Flanagan, Ormonde, Ryan and Walsh; Senators Hourigan, Lanigan and Robinson. Apologies for inability to attend were received from Deputies Manning and Molony.

3. Draft Report on Adaptation of the Common Agricultural Policy.

Deputy Walsh brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:-

(i) Paragraphs 1 to 38, inclusive, agreed to.

(ii) Paragraph 39.

Amendment proposed (Senator Robinson):

“To add to paragraph 39 the following:

‘In view of the serious implications which the adoption of these measures would have for Irish agriculture the Joint Committee requests that a debate take place in Dáil Éireann and Seanad Éireann as soon as possible’.”

Amendment agreed to.

Paragraph, as amended, agreed to.

(iii) Paragraph 40 agreed to.

Draft Report, as amended, agreed to.

Ordered: To report accordingly.
