PROCEEDINGS OF THE JOINT COMMITTEE

1. The Joint Committee met at 4 p.m.

2. Members Present.

The following Members were present:

Senator FitzGerald (in the Chair), Deputies Cogan, Filgate and J. Walsh; Senators Molony and Mulcahy.

3. Draft Report on Implementation of Council Directives.

Senator Molony brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:—

(i) Paragraphs 1 to 8, inclusive, agreed to.

(ii) New Paragraph.

Amendment proposed (Senator Molony):

“After paragraph 8 to insert a new paragraph as follows:

‘In view of the importance of this matter the Joint Committee requests that a debate take place in Seanad Éireann. In this connection the Joint Committee refers to the order of Seanad Éireann of 18th February, 1981’.”

Amendment agreed to.

(iii) Appendix agreed to.

Draft Report, as amended, agreed to.

Ordered: To report accordingly.
