1. The Joint Committee met at 4 p.m.


2. Members Present.


The following Members were present:


Senator FitzGerald (in the Chair), Deputies Cogan, Filgate and J. Walsh; Senators Molony and Mulcahy.


3. Draft Report on Marketing of Fishery Products.


Deputy Walsh brought forward a Draft Report which was read as follows:—


(i) Paragraphs 1 to 4, inclusive, agreed to.


(ii) Paragraph 5.


Amendment proposed (Senator FitzGerald):


“In subparagraph (i), in the first sentence after ‘members’ to add ‘but who would have certain safeguards under this proposal’.”


Amendment agreed to.


Paragraph, as amended, agreed to.


(iii) Paragraphs 6 to 8, inclusive, agreed to.


(iv) Paragraph 9.


Amendment proposed (Senator FitzGerald):


“In pages 9 and 10 to delete ‘holds the fishery Community and the market system up to ridicule and’ and substitute ‘where there is existing human need for food is unjust and the fishing community and the market system are properly subject to ridicule and criticism as a result’.”


Amendment agreed to.


Paragraph, as amended, agreed to.


(v) Paragraphs 10 to 15, inclusive, agreed to.


Draft Report, as amended, agreed to.
