The following Members were present: Senator FitzGerald (in the Chair), Deputies Leonard, Quinn and Smith; Senators Mulcahy and Robinson. 3. Draft Report on Consumer Credit. The Joint Committee resumed consideration of the Draft Report. Draft Report, by leave, withdrawn. The Joint Committee took into consideration a Revised Draft Report brought forward by Senator Mulcahy. (i) Paragraphs 1 to 11, inclusive, agreed to. (ii) Paragraph 12. Amendment proposed (Senator Robinson): “In the fourth sentence, to delete ‘recommends that the Directive be amended to exclude from its provisions’ and substitute ‘therefore recommends that the Commission be asked to examine whether it would be possible to exclude from the provisions of the Directive’.” Amendment agreed to. Paragraph, as amended, agreed to. (iii) Paragraphs 13 to 17, inclusive, agreed to. (iv) Paragraph 18. Amendment proposed (Senator Robinson): “In page 10, line 15, after ‘amount’ to insert ‘(e.g. IR£10,000)’.” Amendment agreed to. Paragraph, as amended, agreed to. (v) Paragraphs 19 to 25, inclusive, agreed to. (vi) Paragraph 26. Amendment proposed (Senator FitzGerald): “In page 14, line 2, to delete ‘creditor’ and substitute ‘consumer’.” Amendment agreed to.
