ORDERS OF REFERENCE

2nd November, 1977:—Ordered: That, in pursuance of Standing Order No. 112 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Seanad Éireann to constitute the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills:


That the Chairman of the Joint Committee shall have only one vote; and


That all questions in the Joint Committee shall be determined by a majority of votes of the members present and voting and in the event of there being an equality of votes the question shall be decided in the negative. [Parliamentary Secretary to the Taoiseach].


Message sent to the Seanad acquainting it accordingly.


9th November, 1977:—Message from the Seanad: “Seanad Éireann has made the following Order:—


‘That, in pursuance of Standing Order No. 101 of the Standing Orders relative to Public Business, a Select Committee be appointed to be joined with a Select Committee of Dáil Éireann to constitute the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.


That the Chairman of the Joint Committee shall have only one vote; and


That all questions in the Joint Committee shall be determined by a majority of votes of the members present and voting and in the event of there being an equality of votes the question shall be decided in the negative.’ ”


30th November, 1977:—Members nominated to serve on the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills: Deputies John Callanan, Vivion de Valera and Jim O’Keeffe.


29th October, 1980:—Resolved: That it is expedient that the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1980, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills [Minister for Social Welfare].


Ordered: That a Message be sent to the Seanad requesting its concurrence in this Resolution.


19th November, 1980:—Message from the Seanad:—“Seanad Éireann has passed the following Resolution:—


‘That Seanad Éireann concurs with Dáil Éireann in its Resolution communicated to Seanad Éireann on the 29th day of October, 1980, that it is expedient that the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1980, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.’ ”


Ordered: That the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1980, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills; and


That, notwithstanding anything in Standing Order 111, the first meeting of the Committee be held on Wednesday, 26th November, 1980. [Minister for Social Welfare].

19th November, 1980:Message from the Dáil: “Dáil Éireann has passed the following Resolution in which the concurrence of Seanad Éireann is desired:—


‘That it is expedient that the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1980, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills.’ ”


Resolved: That Seanad Éireann concurs with Dáil Éireann in its Resolution communicated to Seanad Éireann on 29th day of October, 1980, that it is expedient that the Social Welfare (Consolidation) Bill, 1980, be referred to the Standing Joint Committee on Consolidation Bills. [Senator Eoin Ryan].
