APPENDIX 11LETTER TO CLERK TO JOINT COMMITTEE FROM ASSOCIATION FOR THE WELFARE OF CHILDREN IN HOSPITAL (IRELAND)We believe that your committee is examining the Voluntary Health Insurance Board. Our organisation, the Association for the Welfare of Children in Hospital (Ireland), would like a point to be brought to your attention, namely that mothers who accompany their young children to hospital are not covered by V.H.I. benefits. Mothers are often charged for accommodation—sometimes at private patient rate. Recently a mother told us that she was charged £17 per day. Our organisation would be grateful if this anomaly could be considered during your investigation. Yours faithfully Clare Stephens Hon. Secretary. 22 October 1979 |
