When giving evidence to the Committee of Public Accounts regarding the Appropriation Accounts for 1978 I undertook to provide information regarding the following:

Vote 45 — Office of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs.

Qn 366	1. Wired broadcast relay operators who have failed to supply subscriber information.
Qn 413	2. Estimate of the cost of television licence inspection countrywide.

The attached note provides the relevant information.

Vote 45 — Office of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs.

1. Subscriber information due to be supplied by wired broadcast relay operators.

The Committee requested to be informed if the Department had got around to dealing with licensees who had not supplied subscriber information.

All licensees have now supplied the required information.

2. Estimate of the cost of the recent television licence inspection campaign.

The Committee requested to be informed of the estimated cost of inspection countrywide.

The estimated cost of the television licence inspection campaign is £200,000.
